The Normal Heart won ONE Emmy.

Just. A. Single. One.

Are you fucking kidding me???

I am so incensed right now, I could scream. In fact, I did scream at my laptop when Matty lost. HE WAS ROBBED. Hell, everyone (except maybe Julia Roberts - I did favor Kathy Bates) was robbed.

And you could see Matty's disappointment when the "winner" was announced. I just wanted to reach through my screen and smish him.

FU, Emmy assholes. Eff. Yoo.

I don't know why they're so obsessed with Sherlock (of all things! *shudders*) but this year more than ever, they fucking missed the opportunity to reward and honor something very special. Something very important. I guess I should be thankful that they recognized The Normal Heart as Best TV Movie. Pardon me for not feeling very thankful right now. *fumes* (to be honest, I was convinced that this one would also go to Sherlock, because, hey, it's totally a TV Movie and not a Mini-Series, right??? *fumes some more*)

JFC.

Going to rage myself to sleep now... (Can't believe I stayed up to watch this trainwreck.)

*hugs*

I tuned in just see the one win. Missed the losses. While (oooo Adam Levine!!!!) I watch Sherlock, I don't think this last season was all that great when compared to TNH. Definitely not the same level by a long shot.

:(

I think what bothers me most isn't that Matt-from-WC didn't win, but that you have an actor who put all of himself into a role, who fought for it and was all-in dedicated from day one, who underwent an extreme physical transformation (which came with potential health issues), spent all of that time away from his husband and kids, worked so hard to get everything just right, and then brought all of that along with him to the set, day in and day out (as we've heard from other members of the cast) and blew everyone away with a truly moving and phenomenal performance.

And instead of honoring him for that, they gave it to a guy who couldn't even be bothered to fucking show up.

Seriously?

And as I said below, even the other nominees looked shocked. And yes, I'm a fan of Matt, but objectively speaking I absolutely believe that he was far and away the winner here. As did virtually everyone predicting the winners for these awards. Ridiculous.

This, all of it. Even if I wasn't so in love with WC Matt, I would be so incredibly pissed that an actor with that level of dedication lost out on an award that he deserved.

That right there is the poo icing on the fucked up cake!

This was a travesty. Even reviewers who were lukewarm about the film thought Matt was incredible. Part of me wonders if the subject matter or other even less pleasant 'factors' were in play in this virtual shutout of TNH. But part of me wonders about the whole thing. Billy Bob Thornton was a huge favorite for long time (until some people started adding Mark Ruffalo into the mix), and ditto Alison Tolman, but Fargo was mostly shut out too (nothing for acting & writing went to Sherlock).

I watch Sherlock (though I haven't seen the latest season & now have little interest in doing so), and both actors are good, but no way MF should have beat out Matt. Even the other nominees looked shocked (and in the case of some of his co-stars, angry) when Matt didn't win.

Yeah, this is horseshit. (Glad for friends of friends to read through on LJ to find other people as irritated by this.)

Icing on the irritation is that Matt Bomer is a mensch, and Martin Freeman is a goddamn asshole. (Search for him on "ohnotheydidnt" on livejournal. Or don't and take my word for it, if you watch and enjoy him in other things.)

Much as I like Martin Freeman and enjoy Sherlock, no way did his performance come close to Matt Bomer's in The Normal Heart. What the judges based their decision on is beyond comprehension.

I was going to watch Sherlock, but now I have no motivation :(

But seriously. Matt deserved it. He earned the damn thing. His enthusiasm for and incredible focus on the story, and the level of commitment, I mean, he gave the movie his *soul*. I am so goddamn heartbroken for him right now. And the entire movie as well, because TNH, in spite of Ruffalo (I'm not very fond of him, sadly), was so heartbreaking and so brilliant, it deserved all the wins.

*rages some more*
